My Exploration Diary - Johannesburg

Exploring Johannesburg

Johannesburg also called Joburg or Jozi.  It is one of major cities of South Africa.
As many of  you might be knowing Johannesburg is also called city of gold. The mine dumps are very prominent around the city. Johannesburg is the major exporter of Gold.

O R Tambo International airport serves as the major airport for Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Currently I am staying in Johannesburg and so this gives me opportunity to explore this beautiful African city.

The city has remarkably good infrastructure. Johannesburg being one of the major cities of South Africa, you won’t see lot of skyscraper  but relative smaller buildings and individual houses.
The skyscrapers are visible around CBD (Central Business District) and Sandton.

CBD (Central Business District)

CBD is the place where you will see lot of tall buildings. Like the circular building with Vodacom written top of it which is the Ponte City. Also you would see big building with a giant screen which is ABSA main office. Also it is remarked by tallest office building in Africa, Carlton centre (TRANSNET) which has 50 floors and on the 50th floor you can experience the beautiful scenic view of Johannesburg.

Sandton

Sandton is the posh area of the city with one of the biggest shopping mall called “Sandton city”. In this mall apart from shopping, you can find a beautiful bronze statue of Nelson Mandela, Noble peace prize winner and first president of Republic of South Africa. And also around the corner you can see a balloon where you can take ride and which goes around 100 meters above the ground and see the beautiful city. This place also has beautiful well maintained garden where you can take a walk or take your kids to play or do free body gymming.

People

The people of all races and culture live here happily. By looking at Johannesburg we can say why South Africa is called the Rainbow Nation. People are very warm hearted and often greet you before starting a conversation. Which really makes you feel good. Many of people are either football or cricket or rugby fans and might see many people discussing about it.

My Exploration Diary - Introduction

Introduction

In this blog I would like to write about my explorations in travel, technology or anything new which I did or experimented.

I have been thinking about writing blogs for quite sometime now and what better way to start than this new year.

Little bit about myself, my job provides me bit of opportunity to travel around and if I get some time, I like to explore new places or work on new technologies.
